Bird's-eye views of American cities

Bird's-eye views, also called panoramic maps, show a town from above at an angle, with every street and building drawn. They were popular in America from the 1850s to the 1920s; the Library of Congress holds more than a thousand of them.

Why they are free to use: Published before 1931: their US copyright has expired. Each map's page shows its own licence basis and a credit line.
