Old railroad maps
Maps of America's railroads from the Library of Congress's railroad map collection: the lines of individual railroad companies, national railroad maps, land grant maps, and the surveys for the Pacific railroads.
Why they are free to use: Most are Library of Congress maps published long ago, so their copyright has expired; US government maps were never under copyright. Each map's page shows its own licence basis and a credit line.
