Bure Orbis Arctoi 1626 one sheet
A single, hand-coloured sheet from the map "Orbis arctoi nova et accurata delineato" by the Swedish cartographer Anders Bure (1571-1646). An approximate English translation is: "A new and reliable description of the northern world." The map was published in six sheets, accompanied by an extensive text commentary in 1626. This image shows one of the sheets, depicting the Gulf of Bothnia, northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland, and part of the Arctic Ocean.
