TERRA SANCTAE SIVE PROMISSIONIS, olim PALESTINA

From the fifteenth century onwards Dutch bibles were provided with maps. These maps usually came in series of six and served to show the geographical locations of actions described in the Old and New testament. A general map of the Holy Land was always included. This map was originally published by Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652). This version of the map was published in 1659 by his son Nicolaes Visscher I (1618-1679).

Reason: its maker died more than 100 years ago, and a faithful scan of a flat work adds no new copyright.

This status rests on the map's publication history, as researched by Wikimedia Commons. Check it before commercial use.
