Renat 2; Renat B
Map (called Renat 2 or Renat B), brought back to Sweden by Johan Gustaf Renat in 1734 after 17 years of captivity in Dzungaria. The map shows the area between 79° and 107° east longitude and between 37° and 51° north latitude. It includes, among other things, parts of the Xinjiang and Gansu provinces in China and the eastern part of Mongolia. Renat began a copy with a transcription of the Mongolian (Oirat) place names. The map is oriented in a south-north direction. The numbering was applied by J. G. Renat before copying the map. For example, no. 103 = Mutulak is located near Turfan (Turpan in modern-day China). Renat's copy of the original map was not completed. Renat brought back two original maps. The other is called Renat 1 (Renat A). Uppsala University Library
