Title provided by cataloger. Includes blank spaces in the coordinate grid in the Gulf of Mexico and left of Baja California, probably for title and other text. Stamped on in lower left corner: U.S. Geological Survey, Office Div. of the Great Basin, 1880. Believed to be the earliest map by the Geological Survey in the Geography & Map Division's collections.
