Jomard World Map of Henri II 03
Mappemonde painted on parchment by order of Henry II, King of France, part 3 This map, belonging to King Henry II, was found, upon examination, to predate the reign of this prince, and to date back to Francis I; reliable evidence indicates that it was executed in the year 1542; therefore, the proper title for it should be the Royal World Map of 1542. From Jomard's Les Monuments de la géographie, ou, Recueil d'anciennes cartes européennes et orientales This map appears to be identical to that reproduced by Nordenskiöld and attributed to Pierrre Descelliers (1546).
