Highlands of Tibet and Surrounding Regions
China
A twentieth century masterpiece for the region. This large wall map spans from the Kabul, Delhi and Lucknow, reaching eastward beyond the Mekong, and expanding up beyond the Himalayas to Tashkent, Urumchi and the Gobi desert. With color defining the great sweeping change of elevation that ranges from "Sea level" to heights above 28,000 ft. As a practical resource it not only notes place names and boundaries, but railroads, "roads suitable for wheels", "other roads with pass", "Telegraph line", "Spring", "Well" and even "Place of archaeological interest. Halting place". This map once owned by U.S. diplomat, and early climbing enthusiast in the Himalayas, E.M. Groth. He penned his named several times across the canvas backing." (Curtis Bird, 2022)
