This map, published by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638) is an enlarged copy of the map published in 1585 by Gerardus Mercator (1512-1594). The map by Mercator was an improved copy of the map designed by Nicolaus Nicolai and published in 1558 by Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598).
