Bay View Brewery Detail, Seattle, 1888

Detail from the 1888 Seattle Sanborn map, giving the earliest depiction of the Bay View brewery, later Rainier Brewery. The original main line of the Northern Pacific RR follows the shoreline while the street car line to Georgetown used the viaduct on the left. The sole brick building, labeled as "being built" still stands at the heart of the current complex though greatly altered. The wooden building that it replaced is directly in front of it and labeled as being slated for demolition.
